HPT is a 3 level test to evaluate individual beagles on their abilities and instincts in the field. Level 1 can be passed by an untrained dog, but level 2 will likely require practice time in the field before dogs are able to pass. Level 3 dogs are regularly worked with and enjoyable to hunt over. These aren’t NECESSARILY dogs that will place in an AKC field trial, but you can hunt rabbits over.

Hunting Beagle Instinct is Level 1 (HBI) – 1 pass (National Beagle Club approved)

Hunting Beagle Novice is Level 2 (HBN) – 2 passes (NBC & AKC approved title)

Hunting Beagle Advanced is Level 3 (HBA) – 2 passes (NBC & AKC approved title)
